Old is New
Again
For our first anniversary I wanted to cement
my wife's place in our new family and saw that clocks were a
traditional first anniversary gift. I had an antique mantle clock that
my grandparents had owned that had been broken and in a box for the past
50 years. I got it out and had it completely restored. It was a
family heirloom before and it is again and it made the perfect gift.
Thanks - Craig - Tampa, FL
Plan Ahead for
the First
This was my wife's idea. The night before of wedding we
wrote each other a letter about what we were feeling at that
time. On our 1st anniversary, we gave each other our letter. This
takes a little planning the the memories are well worth it.
Thanks - Everett - Angier, NC
First Year - Pen,
Paper & Heart
For me first "paper" anniversary I bought a
beautiful journal and wrote a letter to my husband about our first year
together. He in turn had to write something to me. Every year this
will be a tradition and I think that years from now it will be
something we will treasure! PS - I also got him tickets to a show he's
been wanting to see. Thanks - Linaya
First & Second Year - Creative Ideas
Our anniversary is in December, so I always make a
Holiday oriented item as part of our anniversary gift.
First year - I made an ornament by placing Christmas postage stamps glued to
paper-mache ball. For the cotton anniversary, I selected Christmas material
and a pattern and had a friend help me sew a Christmas tree skirt. I
also made matching Christmas ball ornaments by, you guessed it, gluing
scraps of the leftover material on the paper-mache balls!
Thanks - Andrew
First Year -
Paper
I found it difficult to find a paper gift to give to my husband for our first anniversary. I
finally came across a great idea! I found a poem depicting one year of marriage and added
our picture to it.
Thanks, Sascha - Anchorage, AL
First Year - Pen & Paper
For the first year anniversary, I wrote a poem based on our relationship and wrote it onto old looking paper (beige,
tan) in calligraphy. I then burned the edges of the paper, then
mounted and framed it with a red background. It came out awesome and
made my wife cry.
Thanks - Eric - Francestown, NH
First Year - Strike a Pose
I was in an absolute panic while trying to think of something for our first wedding anniversary that was made of
paper - and then I came up with the perfect solution! I went to a
professional photographer and had "boudoir photos" taken - they were,
after all, printed on paper! They were somewhat pricey, but to this
day, he treasures them very much!
Thanks - April - Houston, TX
First Year Wedding Anniversary Gift - That's The
Ticket
My husband loves sports and tickets are made of paper, so I bought my husband tickets
to the upcoming game, Giants/Redskins football game. (He's a Giant fan, I'm
a Redskin fan)... Fun for us both! (Tickets to any
event that you both enjoy works)
Thanks, Serena S. - West Paterson, NJ
If they like to dine out and go to shows, get
them an Entertainment
